Where decisions get made
Meetings
The bylaws set when the association meets, how members are notified and what a meeting can decide.
What the bylaws set
Each rule below cites the article it comes from. Nothing dated appears here: the association’s published notices and minutes are either stale or carry financial detail.
Annual meeting
Held between the first day of April and the first day of October each calendar year. The board picks the exact time, and it may coincide with the yearly ATA State Shoot.
Bylaws Article IV, Section 1Notice
The secretary mails notice to every registered member at least five days ahead, stating the time, the date and the place.
Bylaws Article IV, Section 2Special meetings
Called by the president or by a majority of the board and held inside Oregon, with the same five day mailed notice, which also states the purpose.
Bylaws Article IV, Section 3Quorum
The members present at any meeting are the quorum for all business, including electing directors, the ATA State Delegate and the alternates.
Bylaws Article IV, Section 4Winter Meeting
The annual board meeting. Hall of Fame inductions are the first item of new business and are confirmed by a majority vote of the board.
Bylaws Article VIAmendments
The bylaws can be amended only at the annual meeting held at the Oregon State Shoot, by a two thirds majority of the members present. Proposed amendments go to the board 30 days ahead and are printed in the State Shoot program.
Bylaws Article IIX
Two published OSATA documents disagree on the annual meeting window. Article IV, Section 1 of the bylaws says the first day of October. The association’s meetings page says the last day of October. The correct wording is being confirmed with the board.
